Trigun Stampede has been controversial. It’s CG animation; anime fans don’t like that. It’s a major tonal departure from a beloved original work; anime fans really don’t like that. In my old otaku circles I’ve heard from people who love it, people who accept it, and people who think it’s the worst thing ever. I’m personally in the “that was fine” camp: I nearly didn’t write anything about it here at all until I decided to give it another shot and rewatch a couple of episodes.
