Daily Dracula X - Stage 2': The Ferryman

I'll show you something good.

There’s actually a secret third way through Stage 2’. It is completely arbitrary, with no clues leading in this direction whatsoever. I didn’t find it in my first run on the game; rather, I found it when I was checking to see if I had missed anything.

The ferryman in Stage 2’ is not the kind of secret that you’d easily stumble upon by yourself; rather, it'd be more likely that you were told about it by someone who did. Well-hidden secrets like these are among the joys of video games.

How to reach the ferryman

It’s honestly pretty silly. Reach the area where the gargoyle statues start to come to life, and then find the third gargoyle. Now, see the pit directly next to that gargoyle? Jump in.

You will die if you jump into any of the other pits around here, but when you fall down this one, particular spot, you land safely in a little boat, with the cloaked ferryman.

The ferryman will lead you on a long ride all the way west, the way you came. All the while, mermen will randomly jump up out of the water. At first they’re easy enough to dodge or whip, but eventually a lot of mermen start to spawn and you’ll need to take them out with your axes so as not to get hit.

This strange detour leads directly to Stage 3’, with no boss encounter in between.
