Lost Judgment - School Stories Review
Thoughts on Lost Judgment's B-side. The infinite combo is low jab, high straight, repeat
I think I made my point about the School Stories subsection of Lost Judgment in the review proper, but it’s such a massive part of the game— one I hadn’t finished when I decided I was ready to write the review— that I feel like I should go into a little bit more detail.
(I must warn you, these screen shots are going to make School Stories look extremely cool and awesome. There are a lot of fun moments along the way. But I cannot express the accompanying grind in pictures.)

School Stories is the B-part of Lost Judgment, made by a different team than the main game, and largely disconnected from it. It’s a “subquest island” where you’ll infiltrate school clubs “fellow kids” style and enjoy some mini-games in the process. The over-arching plot is the return of the Keihin Gang, who players of Judgment will remember as the worst part of that game.
School Stories’ main problem is that the cases-- and the mini-games attached to them-- are often excessively long and repetitive. Much like the Keihin Gang in Judgment, the design seems intended first and foremost to add hours to the play time. Any modern game is tracking you, after all, and they want to get those numbers up! Metrics!
