Towards the end of Super Robot Wars 30, every hero takes turns having their final confrontation with a fated enemy as the game’s story wraps up. For Knight’s and Magic’s robot-loving boy engineer hero Ernie, that villain is a evil warship-obsessed engineer.
After his defeat, the cowardly villain offers Ernie “anything you want!” if he defects to his nation. Titles, power, that kind of thing. Ernie responds that oh, I don’t need anything like that, for you see where I’m from the king trusts me with all his robot forces. I’m pretty much the head engineer of the country, you see, I have everything and I can do whatever I want already.
And that’s when I remembered it: Oh, right, Ernie’s an unbearable little shit, and I hate this series. And furthermore, I had to acknowledge what a good job the Super Robot Wars writers had done making me forget this.
