Reading this I find myelf oddly relieved that MH didn't really click with me. I'll fall down the hole even when I can see it coming. Low percentages are to me tough to criticize, because as you suggest there's a balance to where the grind is genuinely a lot of fun. To me, time-limited content is the biggest tell that the game is designed so I'll end up playing when I don't want to. FOMO is an evil design tool, even outside the gacha context.
